“We are, in fact, this dance of love.”
– Camille Maurine
I’ve noticed in the past month, something keeps drawing me to dancers.
It started being guided to dance for One Billion Rising on Valentine’s Day. I met Dr. Valli Batchelor who inspired me with her interpretation of Nadaraja, the dancing Shiva. I discovered Yogeswari’s background is in dance. And of course, there was my Valentine’s Day present – Meditation Secrets for Women, facilitated by dancer and meditation guru, Camille Maurine.
Our meetings are coordinated with moon. Last night’s waxing moon was the second online meeting for the 2013 Meditation Secrets for Women.
After two weeks of Celebrating Our Senses and utilizing her recorded meditations to Bask in Our Womanhood, Camille wanted to know how we were getting along.
One of my highlights these past two weeks was being in utter bliss. Over the past three years I have been doing a practice that specifically states to exclude any outside sensory experiences particularly music. Camille not only suggested music, but she added scent and candlelight as a way to create a sacred space.
Not that this is a complete revelation.
Like the Indians and the Sufis, who create sacred space with candlelight and use scent to attract the angels, Camille’s method is an invitation to celebrate life. After years of focusing on practice to release the past, I needed a sign, someone or something to tell me, “Meditation is not a job. It’s a Joy.”
Meeting these dancers is a sign.
I think in this year of the snake, it is time to emulate the cobra’s swaying dance to the new guru’s music. I hear Camille’s advice to “engage the senses of the outer world to receive our gifts” as a message to feel the sun’s rays on my back, press my soles against the Earth, lift my chest, stick out my tongue like Kali and dance – all at the same time.
There is still time for you to join our journey into our Divine Feminine. This meditation course is a year long, conversation about our co-joining our inner and outer worlds. Camille has figured out the technology which enables us to meet across the continents and share our experiences with like-minded souls. She is really at the forefront of creating communities in the New Age.
Our dance began last night when one member read her poem – about dance.
